JENNIFER HAMILTON
Jennifer is a mother of two beautiful children, aged 10 and 6 and has experienced, first hand, the highs and lows of being a mother. She knows how hard, confusing and tiring parenting can be. Especially in the early days of uncertainty!
After having assisted many families with their journey into parenthood, Jennifer now has more than 20 years of mothercraft experience.
After training as an enrolled nurse, Jennifer trained as a mothercraft nurse at Karitane, Sydney. She then experienced working as a nanny for a number of years before obtaining a position at Tresillian and gained much of her initial experience working as a member of the Tresillian residential care team.
Jennifer then travelled extensively throughout the UK, Europe and America, working as an in-home maternity nurse supporting, assisting and educating new parents in newborn care, breast and bottle feeding, sleep, settling and routine establishment.
Upon returning to Australia she embarked on establishing her own mothercraft home visiting service and has gained valuable experience and much confidence, enabling her to develop further her successful feeding, sleeping and settling techniques.
It was during this time that Jennifer self published “Maternal Matters”, a comprehensive guide on early childhood parenting. This guide has assisted over 500 families both here and abroad with the establishment of healthy, workable routines and the management of their babies.
Jennifer’s experience includes:
- Newborn care.
- Developmental milestones.
- Infant behavioral characteristics.
- Unsettled babies.
- Fussy feeders.
- Sleeping issues.
- Reflux.
- Multiple births.
- Postnatal depression.
- Tired and anxious parents.
In 2007 Jennifer was part of the panel on the channel 7 series, ‘Mums and Bub’s’. She has also written articles for and answered online forums on the Huggies website as well writing articles for well know parenting magazines
Throughout Jennifer’s career her passion has always been supporting, educating and nurturing new parents through their uncertainty, however, her biggest achievement to date was definitely becoming a mother herself. It has shown her how immensely rewarding; proud and complete one can feel at the same time.
Jane has gained a wealth of experience working with mothers and babies for over 25 years. She is a registered mothercraft nurse, doula and has also studied birth education and advanced breast feeding/lactation. Combined with 16 years experience in a neonatal intensive care unit, this has placed her at the forefront of the mothercraft profession
Jane’s passion is to care for new mothers and babies as well as supporting and educating women in their parental role, which in 2000, led her to establishing a post natal home visiting service.
Her goal was to educate in all areas of motherhood including:
- Breast and bottle feeding.
- Settling.
- Reflux.
- Multiple births.
- Sleep and toddler management.
Jane also prepared new parents for the continuing adjustments and changes of lifestyle, roles, and relationships as they made the integration into parenthood.
In 2008 Jane worked as part of the team setting up the home visiting service for Karitane @ home where she continued her involvement for a further sixteen months.
Jane’s goal is to continue supporting and empowering parents through pregnancy, birth and the post natal period. She strives on giving new parents the confidence to embrace and enjoy their new, challenging, yet incredibly rewarding role!
Jane also has two beautiful school aged children of her own and is committed to offering the support she knows, first hand, is so crucial to successful parenting!
